
Jazmine was raised and born from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam Her mother, who was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. In the age of five the father of her was appointed to be the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. The family then moved into the building's historic structure. She graduated in 2005 from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was singing music major. Sullivan began singing as a contralto in the children's choirand after a couple of years, she joined the adult choir. Sullivan wasn't exposed to secular music at first. "I started singing solos in church, and somebody suggested I sign up for a gospel recording when I was eleven. But I was not prepared to do that," she says. "Then McDonald's offered a competition for kids from cities. It gave me the opportunity to perform Accept the Grace of God on Showtime Apollo. My audiences were extremely welcoming." Stevie Wonder sang her part during his 13th birthday celebration. Sullivan aged 15 was signed for the first time to Jive Records. The label recorded her an entire album, but the album was never released. Sullivan was later dropped out of the company. She had a good working connection with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks which included "Backstabbers" that was produced by Timbaland.
